(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – 1&1 Internet, one of the leading European Internet providers with more than 11 million customer contracts, will be working with Intel Corporation, the world’s largest producer of processors, even more closely. The goal is to provide the latest Intel technology for 1&1’s dedicated server portfolio as quickly as possible.
1&1 and Intel have at their disposal years of experience in developing high-performance servers for personal and business use. As a first result of the intensified cooperation, 1&1 is now introducing the XL 12i and the XXL 24i, two server models based on the current Intel® Xeon® E5 processors. Compared to the previous XL 8i and the AMD XXL 24 models, the new servers have significantly more power for the same price. The XL 12i is available for the affordable price of £169.99 per month+VAT, the XXL 24i priced at £299.99 per month+VAT.
At the core of the servers are the modern Intel® Xeon® processors E5-2640 and E5-2440. They are especially suitable for business customers who need a reliable yet powerful machine to execute their web projects. The XL 12i can draw on a frequency of 2.5 GHz (up to 3.0 GHz with Intel® turbo boost), 6 cores (12 virtual with hyper- threading), 32 GB DDR3 ECC RAM and a 2 TB (2×2 TB SATA) hard-disk. The XXL 24i is equipped with a 2.4 GHz frequency (up to 2.9 GHz with Intel® turbo boost), 2×6 cores (2×12 virtual with hyper-threading), 48 GB DD3 ECC RAM and 4 TB (3×2 TB SATA) hard-disk.
“With Intel, we found a strong partner that, like 1&1, develops their own products and addresses a broad circle of international users with professional solutions”, says 1&1 CEO Oliver Mauss. “The new server models are perfectly suited for the needs of our main target group of small and medium enterprises. I imagine we will be using synergies increasingly and more Intel knowledge will become part of our offers.”
“1&1’s dedicated hosting model helps provide considerable value to its customers as their strong market position across the DACH countries, UK, Spain and other European markets indicate,” said Terry Thorn, Director of Datacenter Channels at Intel. “Their innovative use of the latest available technologies including the Intel® Xeon® Processor E5 Family allows them to deliver the secure, efficient performance hosting customers expect. We look forward to continued growth and success with 1&1 using Intel technology”.
1&1 offers a total of nine different server tariffs – from a 2-core beginner model to turbo servers with 32 core processors. All machines are available as Linux, Windows or Managed versions. As usual, 1&1 forgoes traffic limits to make sure successful web projects are not hindered by high costs. As a special promotion for the introduction of the new servers, the XL 12i is available with a 50 per cent discount for the first 3 months with orders made before 31st October.
