(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – As the iPhone 6’s rumored release date approaches, many continue to speculate what new innovative features Apple will introduce with its latest flagship smartphone.
Last week “sources close to the situation” revealed some of the iPhone 6’s features to VentureBeat, which include wireless charging, NFC, bigger screens, and a better 4G antenna.
“The new iPhone is nearing completion and is now being tested for things like durability, speed, and network performance,” says VentureBeat.
Sources say the iPhone 6 has a “surface for energy transfer” under its design that allows the device to connect to an inductive charging surface that can be a free standing pad or built into existing fixtures such as dashboards and countertops.
Near Field Communication (NFC)
Apple reportedly added an NFC radio into the device that allows users to make mobile payments similar to the way Android smartphones use Google Wallet. The sources were not specific on what wireless payment standard Apple is using, though it is speculated that the tech giant will make its own mobile payment versions as a way to compete with Google Wallet and ISIS.
The iPhone 6 will debut with a new larger, scratch-resistant screen. Two versions of the iPhone 6 is expected to be released, a 4.7-inch model and a 5.5-inch. The sources suggest the screen will have a resolution of 1704 x 960 pixels, a move that triples the “base resolution” of currents iPhones.
Apple’s new device is said to feature a Category 6 LTE radio that produces speeds of 300 mbps. iPhone 5’s currently have speeds of up to 150 mbps.
The iPhone 6 is speculated to be released sometime in September 2014.
