HostingCon 2009 Day 2 may have come to a close, but the show is far from over. Web hosting professionals and companies providing products and services to the hosting industry filled the showroom floor today. The showroom floor opened early for exhibitors to finish last minute preparations. The doors were officially opened at 10:30am EST for attendees and guests to peruse.
cPanel and Parallels are prominent players this year, having the two largest booths up front and center as attendees and guests walk through the entrance doors. But don’t dismiss the smaller booths along each of the four main aisles. Companies including CDGcommerce, Steadfast Networks, DedicatedNow, and Pinnacle Cart showcased their latest products and services.
Keynotes and sessions continued today including topics on cloud hosting, virtualization, PCI compliance and how-to sessions on launching your product successfully, utilizing social media to win customers, and how to get upside in a down economy. Cloud hosting and virtualization are being discussed everywhere at this year’s event in and out of sessions, at exhibitor booths, and in general conversations taking place around the convention center.
Attendance is up compared to last year’s event. The showroom floor was not overcrowded, but the mix of people made it well worth an all day visit. Many booths and exhibitors made a lasting impression including Black Lotus with six 32-inch HD televisions, each connected to an Xbox game console or product presentation. Black Lotus showcased their latest DDoS protection services for web hosting companies and website owners. cPanel invited attendees to stop by and grab a couple of warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven while they introduced cookie eaters to the latest features of cPanel and an upcoming Windows based product.
New companies launching innovative products and services exhibited today including Packet Power featuring a hybrid hardware/software combination that tracks and analyzes power consumption, Rackmount Specialists feature proprietary powerful energy-saving servers, Sprynex featuring a new Linux hosting control panel, and InfoGenius featuring a new website and server monitoring service.
These companies and many others are getting creative in developing products and services that reduce costs, help the environment, and increase efficiency from hardware to software and everything in between. Future posts and articles here on Gawkwire.com and in Ping! Zine web hosting magazine will feature the latest products and services from the above mentioned companies.
The lights shut off at 6pm EST while a few last-minute deals and partnerships were being formed, sealed with a handshake and an exchange of business cards. Everyone made their way out of the exhibit hall to attend one of the nights sponsored parties, meet for dinner and drinks at a local restaurant, or head out to downtown Washington D.C. for the ultimate HostingCon 2009 experience.
More from HostingCon 2009 is on the way as we start Day 3 with another round of keynotes, sessions, and an open showroom floor on Wednesday.
