(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – In a major acquisition, content delivery provider Akamai Technologies is set to add the services of cloud technology acceleration company Contendo for $268 million.
Akamai helps deliver a high level of internet content to electronic devices. Some of the company’s most well known clients have included USA Today, Verizon Wireless, Clear Channel and Adobe.
Contendo’s services account for online features such as SSL, dynamic web applications, and more.
Commenting on the matter in a press release, Contendo CEO Ronnie Zehavi stated, “The Cotendo team is very proud of our accomplishments in delivering proven and effective solutions for accelerating Web and mobile assets.”
“By combining our innovative technology and employees with Akamai, we expect our customers and partners will gain access to a comprehensive, global platform and wider portfolio of leading-edge services supported by some of the most experienced providers in the industry,” Zehavi continued.
Meanwhile, Akamai CEO Paul Sagan commented, “Together, we believe there is tremendous opportunity for our combined technologies as enterprises embrace the move to the cloud and seek solutions for an increasingly mobile world.”
