(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Today was a big day for Amazon’s cloud division, AWS. The company just expanded its services in the land down under, Australia.
The move represents the company’s third presence in the Asia-Pacific region after other locations including Tokyo and Singapore.
“Over 10,000 customers in Australia and New Zealand are already using AWS, and this is before opening our new AWS Region in Australia today,” commented AWS Senior VP Andy Jassy in a press release.
Jassy also discussed other aspects of the platform, emphasizing latency and store data. Customers of the service, meanwhile, already include the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, among others.
Amazon initially began making headway in the area over one year ago, reportedly making plans to open a data center in Sydney. Amazon Web Services is popular for solutions including EC2 and CloudFront.
