(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Amazon has added two new e-readers to its Kindle line, an affordable $74 device and a high-end reader starting at $199.
Amazon’s new lightweight Kindle features double storage, a touch interface, longer battery, and a 20% faster processor than previous devices in its line.
According to the retail giant, the new Kindle Voyage is its “most advanced e-reader,” offering higher resolution, contrast, and brightness than any Kindle on the market.
The Voyage features an adaptive front light 39% brighter than its predecessors, free 3G, a new origami cover, and Amazon’s new turn page feature, PagePress.
“PagePress uses a custom-designed force sensor that sits directly under the bezel. You simply rest your thumb on the bezel and turn the page by lightly pressing,” says Amazon via press release. “When you turn the page, Kindle Voyage delivers tactile feedback from a haptic actuator. The actuator delivers just enough vibration to let you know you turned the page, but is subtle enough that you won’t be distracted from your reading.”
Both devices are slated to begin shipping next month, and are now available for pre-order.
