According to a report from ETNews and picked up by Android Authority, Android 4.4 KitKat will be better designed to operate on large screen TV devices.
Android’s previous user interface and user experience are said to have been revamped to work better on smart TVs. Such features were previously considered limitations.
“I heard Google say ‘the next OS has greatly improved its utilization in TV. In particular, there will be many changes in the interface between smart devices and the TV,” remarked an unidentified source, according to ETNews.
The report also noted that LG Electronics would be using the product name “Android TV,” a transition away from what was previously known as “Google TV.”
While many of Android 4.4’s features remain a mystery, Google has indeed been pushing for more TV integration. Earlier this year, the company unveiled Chromecast – a USB-based device that lets you stream apps like Netflix and Hulu from your laptop and onto the big screen.
