(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Ready or not, here Android 4.4 KitKat comes. Google’s latest mobile OS is highly expected to arrive on October 28th after candy-maker Nestle provided some hints via its Kitkat Twitter page last week.
One KitKat Tweet stated, “Sometimes you have to look for the signs…” with an image showing broken KitKat chocolate bars lined up to read “This is it,” evoking memories of the Michael Jackson movie which was released on October 28th, 2009.
Google previously teamed up with Nestle to name its latest mobile OS launch in September. Past Android versions have included desert and and candy-like themes such as Jelly Bean, Cupcake, Donut, Éclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and Honey Comb.
“We couldn’t imagine a better name for our Android K release than the tasty chocolate that’s been a favourite among the team since the early days of Android,” stated Android Director of Marketing Marc Vanlerberghe in a Nestle PR last month.
Meanwhile, a report from the International Business Times on Monday identified some likely features that are expected to be included in 4.4.
One expected change is likely the OS’s UI which could include a revised color scheme in addition to enhanced notifications.
More cloud integration could arrive with 4.4 as a new backup system, something that may be similar the Apple’d iCloud, according to the report.
Lastly, Google could introduce a Newstand Service, allowing Android users to download magazines, television shows and more directly through Google Play.
