Apple Applies for ‘iWatch’ Trademark; Fuels Speculation

Apple Applying ‘iWatch’ Trademark Fuels Speculation(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Tech giant Apple could be working on a digital watch. While the rumor has been around for some time, there now may be some confirmation.

According to a Reuters report on Monday, the Cupertino, California-based company applied for a trademark of the name “iWatch” in Japan.

Such a move couple help Apple compete in a growing market currently dominated by the likes of Nike’s FuelBand and Jawbone’s UP.

The patent is said to cover things like wristwatches, computers along with computer peripherals, a source indicated.

But despite the news, there’s some reason to remain skeptical. “There’s nothing that’s going to convince a kid who has never worn glasses or a band or a watch to wear one, or at least I haven’t seen it,” recently commented Apple CEO Tim Cook, noted to the report.

Meanwhile, we’ll place the “iWatch” on our list of Apple products including the Apple smart TV that we’re still waiting on.
