(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple chipmakers are reportedly gearing up to begin production of its upcoming smart watch, claims sources familiar with the matter.
According to BGR, citing Digitimes, around 30 to 40 million units have been ordered for the first wave of orders. In comparison, Samsung has only sold 800,000 units of its Galaxy Gear watch.
Apple Watch will come in three editions, the watch, watch sport, and watch edition, a 18-karat gold device with sapphire crystal. Rumors surrounding the device suggest that the wearable will start at $500 and go all the way up to $5,000 for the gold edition.
A release date for Apple’s first wearable device has not yet been announced, though some believe it could launch on February 14, while others speculate the release for the second quarter of 2015.
