(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple will kick off a trade-in program on August 30th for iPhone owners looking to switch their current devices with the highly anticipated next gen iPhone 5.
According to a report from 9to5Mac, the initiative will be called the “iPhone Reuse and Recycle Program” and will begin at select Apple Stores, eventually spreading to other locations as we move into next month.
Those looking to participate in the program are required to have an active contract through their devices. The older iPhones will then be judged based on categories including display quality, hardware and liquid damage along with button quality. A discount amount will then be projected and applied to the purchase of a new iPhone.
Customers will be allowed to keep their SIM cards and the Apple Store employee will offer to help set up the new device.
It’s heavily speculated that Apple will unveil its next gen iPhone sometime next month.
