(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Is Apple on the verge of launching a more affordable iPhone? According to a report on Wednesday from the Wall Street Journal, that could be the case.
A cheaper version of the popular mobile device could position the Cupertino-based tech giant to compete better against the likes of smartphones operating on Android, Google’s OS.
The Journal’s sources were unnamed but the report noted the device could receive a launch sometime this year.
It would be a curious case, but could allow the cellular vendor to market less high tech devices while still offering 4G connectivity. Apple already provides other versions of the iPhone including the 4 and 4S at discounted rates.
