(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Apple’s newest iPhones and wearables has been the topic recently, but the company is said to be showing interest in a new field aimed at making your house into a Smart Home.
9to5mac reports that sources familiar with the project say that the tech giant is well beyond the “exploratory” phase of the project and has put a team together to integrate the new technology into its current devices.
The sources noted that Apple is not likely to compete with Nest, but instead will focus on more “mainstream” products such as speaker systems and control panels, playing into the recent Beats acquisition.
During Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, the Cupertino company revealed one of its iOS 8 software, HomeKit, that is intended to allow users to control home appliances through third party apps, which fits into the tech giant’s vision of Smart Home appliances.
