(Ping! Zine) – Applied Innovations today announced the Microsoft IIS Media Services 4.0 Beta is now available through a free, full-featured hosting account on AppliedI-Labs —a unique hosting environment where customers can gain early access to new technologies and beta programs prior to release.
“The Microsoft IIS Media Services 4.0 Beta is the second major beta program we’ve offered through AppliedI-Labs since its deployment last month,” stated Jess Coburn, founder and CEO of Applied Innovations. “With AppliedI-Labs, we provide our customers with a pristine, constantly available production environment for websites where they can evaluate and experiment with new technologies without impacting the performance or stability of their business-critical websites.”
Applied Innovations is offering free hosting on AppliedI-Labs for the IIS Media Services 4.0 Beta. For anyone interested in being on the leading edge of technology, this is a great opportunity to experience the app well in advance of release. To access AppliedI-Labs and join the IIS Media Services 4.0 Beta, simply sign up for the WebMatrix Hosting promotion and get a full blown AppliedI-Labs account for free until the end of the year!
IIS Media Services 4.0 Beta integrates a variety of highly-anticipated new features, including smooth streaming, live smooth streaming, transform manager, advanced logging, bit rate throttling and web playlists. Other themes for this release are iPhone support, content conversion, content creation and rich player options.
“IIS Media Services now has a checkbox option to allow live adaptive streaming delivery to Apple devices,” explained Chris Knowlton, senior product manager for the media server platform at Microsoft. “Using the same live H.264 streams you encode for Silverlight players running on PCs, Macs, Linux, Nokia S60 and Windows Phone 7 mobile devices, Broadcom and Intel set-top-boxes, IIS Media Services can now transmux those in real time to streams for iPad, iPod, and iPhone.”
A longtime Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and exclusive Windows platform web hoster, Applied Innovations is an active participant in Microsoft’s various early adopter and beta programs, including WebsiteSpark and the WebMatrix Beta Program.
“AppliedI-Labs was created to provide a safe environment to evaluate and develop various technologies, and it’s not just limited to Applied Innovations customers; anyone can sign up,” continued Coburn. “One of the things we’re evaluating is WebsitePanel, slated to become our next production control panel solution. We’re also currently testing a new hosting infrastructure to power AppliedI-Labs called the AppliedI Dynamic Server Cloud.”
