According to a report from The Verge, the method will now instead rely upon gift cards – something similar to Apple iTunes vouchers.
The tech giant has moved away from virtual currency in favor of cash since launching Windows 8 last year.
Microsoft is expected to debut its next generation gaming console on Tuesday, May 21st. Meanwhile, more information will arrive at this year’s E3 gaming conference.
