Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag DLC, Freedom Cry, Will Have a Standalone Release(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Assassin’s Creed 4’s story DLC, Freedom Cry, will be a stand-alone game, released later this month, announced Ubisoft on Wednesday.

“We decided to release Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry as a standalone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed universe,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing, Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin’s Creed game, including a new hero, new environments and new weapons.”

The game will features Adewale, Edward Kenway’s first mate, 15 years after the events of Black Flag. As an escaped slave, gathers a ship and crew and sails the Caribbean freeing slaves and fighting slave traders.

Freedom Cry will be available on February 18th for PS4 and PS3 consoles and February 25th for PC for $14.99. Users will not need to have purchased Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag to play the DLC.
