(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Assassin’s Creed 5 will not be taking place in feudal Japan, despite the many rumors that have been circling Ubisoft’s upcoming game.
According to IGN, Ubisoft Toronto executive Jade Raymond confirmed that the game would not be set in Japan, but hinted that it would feature her favorite historical era.
“When we’re building a franchise, we’re thinking of a whole universe and how we’re developing a meta-story that could live on for many years in games and TV,” Raymond said. “If the story has nowhere to go, then you end up with the video game equivalent of The Matrix 2 or something where it’s never going to be quite as genius.”
Though she did not mention where her “favorite historical era” is, leaked reports suggest that the game will take place during the closing years of the Industrial Revolution in Victorian London.
