According to a BBC report on Monday, China’s largest search engine, Baidu, has teamed up with France Telecom to provide browser compatibility for smartphones in the continent.
The move means pre-installation will hit lower-end smartphones provided via France Telecom. The company has around 80 million customers in Africa.
Africa has significantly lagged behind other areas in terms of technology and smartphone use. Many in the continent use lower-end go phones.
