(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Twitter has rolled out new changes to its social networking site allowing users the ability to easily flag abusive and harassing tweets.
“We’re improving the reporting process to make it much more mobile-friendly, require less initial information, and, overall, make it simpler to flag Tweets and accounts for review,” explains the social media giant via blog post. “These enhancements similarly improve the reporting process for those who observe abuse but aren’t receiving it directly.”
With these changes, users will no longer be required to fill out a long questionnaire, but instead will just be able to click on the report button and click on why you are reporting the users such as for spam, abusive behavior, or impersonation.
Currently the new changes are only offered to a small group of users, though the company intends to expand to all users in the coming months.
Twitter adds that new controls and features will be added to the blocked accounts page in the next couple of months, so be on the lookout for additional changes coming to your account.
“We are nowhere near being done making changes in this area. In the coming months, you can expect to see additional user controls, further improvements to reporting and new enforcement procedures for abusive accounts.”
