(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Once again, Best Buy is having to notify customers that their email addresses have been stolen. This makes it the second straight month the company has had to do this.
The stolen data came from a security breach by a third-party vendor. Best Buy discovered the problem on April 22 and has since began notifying customers of the breach. The company has also broken ties with the unamaed vendor and says it will pursue legal action against the company.
The stolen email addresses comes on the heels of the Eplison data breach last month when numerous companies, including Best Buy had to warn their customers that email addresses had been stolen from the email-marketing services firm.
Although both instances are similar, sources claim that they are unrelated.
