Big Year for Luigi? Nintendo Direct Rollouts for 3DS & Wii U

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Nintendo promises 2013 will be the Year of Luigi following what will be the character’s return to the limelight via a re-release for the 3DS. The popular Mario sidekick will be in the spotlight in the latest version of Luigi’s Mansion – a game initially made available for the GameCube back in 2001.

Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon

In the game, Luigi takes on haunted mansions with a flashlight and fights ghosts which threaten him. “I hope when you play the game, you will be able to imagine yourself as Luigi and immerse yourself in this haunted mansion as if it were really there and just have fun sucking everything up with the poltergeist. I really hope you will enjoy this game and all its playful ghosts,” explained Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamato in a Nintendo Direct video. The game is set for release on March 24.

Another mode of the game provides for a multiplayer capability supporting up to four players.

Mario & Luigi Dream Team

In another roleplaying title, Lugui’s dreams are the setting for Matrio & Luigi Dream Team. The title is expected to be launched sometime this summer.

Mario Gulf World Tour

Coming in the summer of 2013 for 3DS, Nintendo promises “straight-forward controls anyone can enjoy.” Appearances by other characters in the Nintendo universe are expected.

New Super Luigi U

Available for the Wii U, Nintendo is providing this as downloadable content – available via the Nintendo eShop.

Miiverse

Link isn’t Luigi – but the two popular characters share the same color green. Nintendo has created a new community to discuss Zelda for the Wii U.
