(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The increasingly popular online digital currency known as the bitcoin is getting some mainstream support. On Tuesday, a coffee house located in Vancouver, Canada added an ATM with bitcoins next to its espresso bar, Reuters reported on Wednesday.
The ATM is said to look like a usual one but also features a barcode and hand scanner.
Specifically, the ATM allows people to exchange their bitcoins for cash or deposit cash to buy even more of the digital currency.
“It’s as easy as walking up to a machine, scanning your hand, entering some cash and buying bitcoin,” stated Jordan Kelley, CEO of Robocoin, the company responsible for building the ATM via the Rueters report.
In the recent past, more and more presences (especially those online) have started accepting bitcoins as a legitimate means of payment.
According to a report from The Washington Post, bitcoin values are currently at a five-month high.
