New pricing on both Amazon.com and Best Buy finds the device now available for as low as $49. Meanwhile, wireless carriers Verizon and AT&T have both reduced the Z10 to $99, dropping it down from its initial price tag of $199.
The move comes amid some reports that BlackBerry continues to struggle after its highly publicized BlackBerry 10 revamp in January. However, in a report from the Wall Street Journal, BlackBerry commented that it was “the right time to adjust the price.”
“It’s part of life cycle management to tier the pricing for current devices to make room for the next ones,” noted a company representative, according to the report.
