(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Blizzard is giving Australian users what they have been asking for for quite some time now, their own servers.
“Better late than never, ultimately,” said World of Warcraft lead designer Ion Hazzikostas. “We know we have a lot of passionate players here and it’s something we’ve wanted to do for a long time. There are a lot of complexities and logistics that have gone into it to make sure that we’re doing it right. So finally the stars have aligned and we’re just happy to be able to roll out the feature now.”
Hazzikostas added that the new servers will benefit all players not just raiders and Player-versus-players.
“Playing the game with 40ms latency versus 300ms latency is just a better experience no matter what you’re doing. Except maybe pet battles.”
The new servers will roll out on October 28th, just ahead of the November 13th Warlords of Draenor expansion launch, reports CNEt.
