Boston Suspect Draws Unwanted Attention to VK

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Since last week’s Boston Marathon tragedy, interested users have scoured the internet in search of social media profiles related to the bombing suspects.

One such supposed profile pertains to surviving 19-year old suspect Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev on social network VK.

Haven’t heard of VK? If so, you’re definitely not the only one. According to a report from Slate.com, VK is often referred to as “the Russian Facebook.”

To us, the profile looks a lot like how Facebook used to look two or so years ago (before the arrival of Timeline). According to Alexa Internet, VK has a global traffic ranking of 24.

Via Tsarnaev’s profile, visitors have posted a number of disturbing comments, images and more – according to a number of reports. Tsarnaev is currently in custody at a U.S. prison hospital and could face the death penalty under U.S. federal law.
