Carpathia Set to Add New Data Center Near D.C.

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – The Washington D.C. area is set to get another valuable data center resource. Hosting provider Carpathia announced plans on Thursday to build a new facility in coordination with data center solution providers Equinix and Digital Realty in Dulles, Virginia.

Called the IBX Vault, the facility itself will offer 64 thousand square feet of space to provide hosting for government and healthcare agencies. In addition to that, those in the commercial industry will also be provided for.

For the facility itself, Equinix is set to provide the management while Carpathia will offer the security. Such features of the data center include private fiber connection and wide area network services (WAN).

Discussing the matter in a press release, Carpathia Hosting CEO Peter Weber said his company was “very pleased” to partner with the other companies for the data center’s construction.

Weber also stated, “With the new IBX Vault, our customers get access to an unparalleled combination in the industry; a data center built to Equinix’s rigorous standards as well as our industry-leading complex, compliant managed hosting and cloud services.”

Aside from the Dulles, Virginia area, Carpathia has other data center sites in the state including one in Harrisonburg and another in Ashburn. The new facility will be constructed across from another Carpathia facility.

Revelation of the plans for the new site follows an announcement by Carpathia earlier this month in which the web hosting provider said it would add offices in New York and California. For more information regarding the new facility, view a press release by Carpathia Hosting here (carpathia.com).
