(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The Chinese government is facing allegations that they are responsible for hacking their own citizens Apple iCloud accounts.
Non-profit organization Great Fire claims that Chinese authorities used a man-in-the-middle attack to gain valuable information such as usernames and passwords and data from users iMessages, photos, and contacts, reports TechCrunch.
“If users ignored the security warning and clicked through eh Apple site and entered their username and password this information has now been compromised by the Chinese authorities,” stated a report from Great Fire.
According to the BBC, China’s foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying stated that the allegations were false and that the government is “resolutely opposed” to hacking.
Great Fire noted that the Chinese government has previously attacked Google and Yahoo users with similar tactics.
