Cisco Banks on Big Data with Latest Strategy

chipglass(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Technology giant Cisco appears to be banking on big data as part of its latest strategy, a report from The New York Times signaled on Monday.

Cisco’s strategy has involved moving big data via networking components.

“You can’t ship the information from 50 billion devices all the way up the line,” recently stated company CEO John Chambers, according to the report. Meanwhile, the executive also reportedly noted that a profit from the new strategy could be “one to three years away.”

The insight arrives shortly after Cisco unveiled relatively strong Q3 earnings results – something that accounted for $12.2 billion in net sales. It was also a 5% increase compared to the same time last year.

Cisco’s products pertain to internet protocol networking and related devices.
