Cisco Releases Networking Forecast

(Ping! Zine) – In about four years, wireless network traffic will exceed wired traffic, this according to a report released by electronic corporation Cisco.

The company notes that overall IP traffic has increased by nearly 8 times within the last 5 years and will be in the zettabyte range by the end of 2015. The study expects that traffic generated by IP networks every five minutes will equal the total amount of all data generated by every movie throughout cinema history.

The report also expects that the amount of non-computer devices connecting to the internet will  drastically increase and account for a large portion of the increased devices connecting to the internet.

The forecast goes on to break down IP traffic by geographic location.

Cisco created the forecast by using data collection, among other methods.
