(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The cloud faced its latest test of instability on Monday when cloud services from Amazon went down through the company’s north Virginia data center.
The incident was chronicled via the Amazon Web Services health dashboard and notable platforms affected included ElastiCache, Elastic Compute Cloud, and Amazon’s Relational Database Service (RDS).
Web users, meanwhile, were surely frustrated with outages hitting popular web presences such as Pinterest, Reddit, Quora and Foursquare, according to a report from Venture Beat.
The cause of the issue currently remains unknown. A member of hacking collective Anonymous did however claim credit for the downtime, according to a report from CNET. “I’m attacking amazon for about 4 horus but just posted now i had to have sure it was all down,” stated Twitter account owner Anonymous Own3r.
Amazon’s cloud services were previously impacted in July when storms in the Virginia area caused downtime for Netflix and other services relying on the AWS platform.
