(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – New reports have indicated that Google chairman Eric Schmidt has agreed to discuss his company during a hearing by a U.S. Senate subcommittee. The news was made as the debate over whether Google takes parts in antitrust practices continues.
The hearing titled “The Power of Google: Serving Consumers or Threatening Competition?” will occur in late September. In the past, some have questioned Google’s practices. Most recently, it was reported that the U.S. Federal Trade Commission was possibly looking into how the company’s practices affect competition.
Such antitrust concerns over top tech companies aren’t new. As many remember, Microsoft faced a large antitrust investigation in the late 90’s.
Various Google services such as its search engine, Gmail, Chrome, and the new Google+ have been met with widespread popularity.
