The claim was originally made by Microsoft corporate VP Phil Harrison at Gamescom, according to a report from Digital Trends.
However, other pre-order versions of the Xbox One spotted by CVG on Amazon UK’s website seemed to contradict Harrison. Aside from an edition of the Xbox One featuring a digital copy of FIFA 14 and a commemorative controller, a version with the game Forza 5 for free was also listed. Meanwhile, a console-only edition without free games was seen as well.
According to Digital Trends, a fan sought clarification through Xbox’s Twitter page on the issue, receiving the reply: “All pre-orders come with FIFA 14 in Europe, Ian. Doesn’t matter if it’s a Day One console or not.— Xbox.”
That wasn’t the only clarification provided by the tech giant. “Had a few questions on this so wanted to clarify: FIFA 14 will only come free with Xbox One Day One Edition pre-orders, while stocks last,” later commented Xbox EMEA social marketing manager Graeme Boyd through Twitter as well.
In the United States, for now, it appears a bundled version of the title isn’t arriving. If you’re in the European market, it’s wise to make sure you select the correct pre-order.
A demo of FIFA 14 arrived for the Xbox 360 on Monday. The game itself will be first released for consoles including the PS3, Wii U and 360 on September 24th.
