Construction Begins on Apple’s Prineville, Oregon Data Center

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Phase 1 of Apple’s Prineville, Oregon data center is now underway, a report from The Orgeonian said on Friday.

The facility comes at a price of $68 million and will make the popular iPhone developer a neighbor of Facebook who also has a data center in the area.

According to the Cupertino, California company’s page on environment, Apple will work with renewable energy sources to power the facility through geothermal power, wind and hydro means.

The data center will encompass two facilities representing 338 thousand square feet a piece. Apple currently maintains other data centers in areas including California and North Carolina.
