Crysis 3 Review: What’s Up with NYC’s Nanodome?

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – The highly anticipated first-person shooter known as Crysis 3 was released just earlier this week. And although it’s still super new, it’s already received PC Gamer’s Most Valuable Game award. With that being said, we thought it warranted a look:

In the game, you take on the role of a character named “Prophet” who is tasked with something rather important: saving humanity. The setting of the game is New York City, but it’s much different from the NYC you likely know. The place has been encased in what the game developer describes as a “Nanodome” – meaning NYC is littered with things like trees, swamps, rivers and you name it!

So why’s the dome there? Supposedly to safeguard the population. However, as Prophet finds out, this isn’t the true case. C.E.L.L., a giant and corrupt corporation has actually constructed nanodomes in a bid for world domination. You, the user, have to stop them.

Game developer Crytek describes the title this way via its website: “Set out on an explosive revenge mission as the Crysis series returns to take the sandbox shooter experience to a stunning new level.”

Overall, we like the look of the “nanosuit” along with the stunning graphics and gameplay that’s truly innovative. Crysis 3 is available for the PC along with consoles including the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
