(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – A 62 thousand square foot data center expansion in Charlotte, North Carolina was announced by hosting provider Peak 10 on Wednesday. The facility plans provide for construction to be completed in differing stages, the first of which is set to be finished within the coming months.
The Charlotte area already serves as the company’s corporate headquarters. It’s also where Peak 10 maintains three currently operational facilities. Specific features of the new data center will include HVAC systems, 247 monitoring, “uninterruptible power” and more.
Discussing the matter in a press release, Peak 10 Charlotte VP Pat O’Brien cited an “increasing demand from new and existing customers” as the primary reason for adding the additional data center space. “Because of its convenient location in University Research Park, our new facility is easily accessible to businesses throughout Charlotte as well as the outlying counties,” commented O’Brien.
O’Brien continued, “This new, enterprise class facility can also serve as a disaster recovery and business continuity location for customers that have intercity, interstate or national requirements.”
While the Charlotte area is integral to the company’s operations, it’s not the only market Peak10 has a presence in. Other data center locations include Cincinnati, Atlanta, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Nashville and Tampa. Data center services provided for by the company include disaster recovery, systems management, security and more.
Founded in 2000, Peak 10 is responsible for hosting the data of top companies and organizations including RE/MAX, Meineke Car Care Center, the Gator Bowl and the Tim Tebow Foundation. Just earlier this month, the company launched its new 11 thousand square foot data center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
