Dell Buys EMC in Largest Tech Deal in History

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – On Monday the largest tech deal in history went down between computer giant Dell and data storage company EMC. Dell bought EMC for around $67 billion, a landmark move for the company which went private in 2013.

“The Dell buyout is big news in the tech industry,” says Karl Volkman, CTO of SRV Network, Inc. “It is a momentous move by Michael Dell as it signifies that Dell is heading into the corporate space. Many are comparing it to the golden days of IBM in which the company was a ‘one-stop shop’ for corporate computing needs.”

While no layoffs are in the works, some worry that the buyout might negatively impact EMC’s real estate holdings in Massachusetts.

“The loss of a Fortune 500 company will undoubtedly impact the state,” says Volkman, “But it is not expected to be catastrophic. In fact, Massachusetts boasts of many biotech and medical device companies that surpass any other region in the country. Hence, experts are unilaterally quite excited about this buyout and what it means for Dell’s future trajectory.”
