(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – For an undisclosed amount, technology giant Dell has purchased cloud-management provider Enstratius – a move that allows Dell to expand its cloud-based offerings.
Enstratius’s services provide functionality such as automated application provisioning, scaling, configuration, usage governance and more for cloud-launched applications.
In a press release, Dell VP and GM of systems management Tom Kendra discussed demand, stating, “As enterprises increase their use of public, private and hybrid clouds, the need for controls, security, governance and automation becomes more critical.”
Kendra continued, “Dell, together with Enstratius, is uniquely positioned to deliver differentiated, complete cloud-management solutions to enterprise customers, large and small, empowering them with the efficiency and flexibility in the allocation and use of resources.”
Dell’s latest acquisition appears to be part of a broader strategy. In April of last year, the company purchased cloud technology provider Wyse.
