Diablo 3: Blizzard Considers ‘Customizable’ Item Stats

(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Gamers playing Diablo 3 could soon have more control over in-game items.

Via a Q&A appearing on Battle.net, Blizzard developer Don was asked about the possibility and provided some interesting insight regarding how the company is considering the issue.

“Giving players more control and customization of their item stats is something we talk about a lot in our office. There have been a lot of ideas thrown around here and some great suggestions from the community, but we have not finalized any systems yet,” he stated.

Among the possibilities that Blizzard is weighing includes allowing users to change an item stat and apply it to another stat category, augment an item with a bonus stat, the creation of an item with “one or several fixed affixes,” along with new “socketables.”

Blizzard did, however, admit there were both upsides and downsides to the ideas – a reason for such careful consideration. Diablo 3 was released in May of last year. Meanwhile, PlayStation 3 and 4 versions of the game are expected at a future date.
