Most importantly, the launch does two key things: It adds a character class known as “Crusader” and ups the level cap to 70.
The crusader is what Blizzard describes as a “natural walking tank” that combines magic along with punishing weapons to fight the enemy.
Meanwhile, the expansion will also feature more randomized environments, new monsters, new quests in addition to updates to the loot experience.
Blizzard described the game’s storyline as such via a press release: “Malthael, the fallen Archangel of Wisdom, vanished after the events depicted at the end of Diablo II: Lord of Destruction®. In Reaper of Souls, he returns as the Angel of Death and seizes the Black Soulstone, which contains the essence of the Prime Evil. It now falls to the players to track down Malthael and stop him before he unleashes irreversible havoc on the world.”
A release date has yet to be made official but more information is expected to arrive during BlizzCon 2013, taking place November 8-9 in Anaheim, California.
