(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – Popular cloud storage provider Dropbox recently expanded its portfolio – moving to buy email application Mailbox, according to a Wall Street Journal report from Friday.
Mailbox integrates incoming emails into one platform for mobile users, providing such functionality as swipe to delete, cloud, push notifications and more.
“We felt we could help Mailbox reach a much different audience much faster,” stated Dropbox CEO Drew Houston in the Journal’s report.
Meanwhile, similar to Facebook’s buy of Instagram, Dropbox has already indicated it will keep Mailbox operating as its own entity. However, some future Mailbox cross-functionality with Dropbox is expected.
