(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Distributed Systems Services (DSS) has successfully renewed its Statement on Auditing Standards No. 70 (SAS 70) Type II audit, which assesses the operational effectiveness of internal controls within service organizations. A service auditor’s examination performed in accordance with SAS 70 is widely recognized, because it represents that a service organization has been through an in-depth audit of their control objectives and control activities, which often include controls over information technology and related processes. Type II audits include an examination of controls that have been placed in operation and testing of operating effectiveness.
The SAS 70 audit is just one step that DSS has taken to meet the requirements of its hosted customers. “Renewing the SAS 70 Type II audit provides validation to our customers that we have effective controls, standards and infrastructure in place to protect their data. Achieving this certification confirms our commitment to providing customers with superior data center hosting services,” said Jim Sweeney, President of DSS. “We will move to the new SSAE 16 guidelines for our next audit period.”
“Having DSS take care of mission-critical IT equipment allows internal IT staff to focus on projects that deliver higher value to your organization,” states Sweeney, regarding data center hosting services DSS provides.
