(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson and a global leader in maximizing availability, capacity and efficiency of critical infrastructure, unveiled today its data center infrastructure management (DCIM) adoption strategy to enable users of Avocent, Aperture and Liebert DCIM software solutions to adopt the Trellis™ dynamic infrastructure optimization platform.
“Our commitment has been to advance the state of Data Center Infrastructure Management while protecting our customers’ investments in the technology they are using today,” said Steve Hassell, president of the Avocent business of Emerson Network Power. “We are now in a position to work with new and existing customers to outline exactly how they can adopt the Trellis platform and experience unparalleled control over data center operations.”
The Trellis platform will bring together and extend the functionalities currently delivered by Liebert SiteScan®, Avocent Data Center Planner, and Aperture management software solutions. Current users of these Emerson Network Power software products will have a migration path to the Trellis platform while benefitting from additional functionality that provides greater visibility and control of data center operations via a one-of-a-kind closed-loop control system. Leveraging Emerson Network Power’s proven expertise in asset, power, cooling and infrastructure management and embedded firmware technologies; the Trellis platform ends compartmental decision-making so that data center professionals can optimize every aspect of their critical infrastructure operations. The result is a new level of data center performance that makes it possible to achieve the high availability, operational efficiency and agility business demands.
“The demand for datacenter services is growing rapidly, and the interactions among applications, IT equipment, power, and cooling are getting more complex,” said John Stanley, research analyst for Eco-efficient IT at The 451 Group. “In order to achieve high efficiency, high availability, and low total cost of ownership, datacenter operators need to be able to understand each piece of the system, as well as how the pieces fit together. Datacenter infrastructure management tools are designed to pull together all the relevant data and transform it into insight that operators can use to make decisions.”
Scheduled for release early next year, the Trellis platform is the only DCIM solution to control a complete array of data center infrastructure assets, including both IT and physical infrastructure, from a single console. With the Trellis platform, Emerson Network Power customers will have the exact information they need to maximize the availability, efficiency and capacity of their critical infrastructure.
