(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – A new cloud solution unveiled by Amazon Web Services on Wednesday is set to make it easier for enterprises to connect to the cloud.
Known as the AWS Storage Gateway, the solution relies in part on Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud
Discussing the matter in a press release, AWS Storage Services GM Alyssa Henry stated, “With the AWS Storage Gateway, we’re providing businesses yet another way to easily take advantage of AWS’s secure, scalable and cost-effective cloud storage for use with their on-premises applications.”
“The AWS Storage Gateway works with your existing applications using a standard iSCSI interface, securely transfers your data to AWS over SSL, and stores data encrypted at rest in Amazon S3,” Henry continued.
Another feature of the service is its ability to offer low-latency. While a free sixty day trial is offered, AWS is providing the service on a per gateway basis for a monthly rate of $125.00. However, less expensive pricing is offered by the gigabyte.
Earlier this month, AWS announced wider availability of its Direct Connect data center service. For more information regarding the AWS Storage Gateway, view a press release by the company here (phx.corporate-ir.net).
