(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – A new cloud-based enterprise gateway is set for creation following a key partnership between data center provider Equinix and cloud solutions provider Tier 3.
Announcing the move on Tuesday, Equinix will offer IaaS from Tier 3 while providing customers with benefits including “business agility and cost efficiency.” The offering will become available through Equinix’s data center facilities.
The platform’s features include Microsoft Exchange messaging, SharePoint collaboration, disaster recovery and more.
Discussing the matter in a press release, Equinix cloud and content GM Chris Sharp discussed the upside to teaming up with Tier 3. “Our partnership with Tier 3 further strengthens Equinix’s position as the destination of choice for enterprise cloud deployments through high availability, security and business continuity required for a hybrid or virtual private cloud solution,” commented Sharp.
Meanwhile, Tier 3 CEO Adam Wray said the solution was “uniquely positioned” to assist an increasing need for such platforms. The enterprise cloud platform will first become available in Equinix data centers in New York and Chicago. However, the company plans to spread services at a later date.
Equinix operates a variety of International Business Exchange (IBX) data centers in locations including Dallas, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, Chicago and more. Just last month, Equinix announced a partnership with cloud management company Rightscale, paving the way for a private and public cloud infrastructure platform.
