(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – A jailbreak for iOS versions 6 and 6.1 is off to a roaring start. According to a report from CNET on Thursday, evasi0n has already reached release 1.1, correcting an issue with delayed boot times – something that should be good news for Apple product enthusiasts.
Jailbreaking is popular for allowing users to run software apps not authorized by Apple.
In the first six hours of availability, the Cydia app store had noted it had already been used 800 thousand times. It later topped 1 million.
To receive the jailbreak, users must attach their respective devices to their computers using USB cables. iOS 6.1 was released in late January, adding a number of new features to the mobile OS including more LTE support and Fandango compatibility for Siri.
