(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – FIBERTOWN, Houston colocation data center provider and Central Texas business continuity campus, announced an energy-sector company as the latest tenant for its new 50,000 sq.ft. colocation data center in North Houston. Black Stone Minerals, which leases minerals to exploration and production companies and acquires additional properties for future leasing and development, will move its mission critical IT systems from an in-house data center to FIBERTOWN’s Houston colocation facility. With data center commissioning expected to conclude later this month, customer installation will begin in early July.
“One of our strengths is working with growing businesses toward designing scalable, flexible colocation options that meet both current and future needs,” said Brandon Perryman, senior vice president at FIBERTOWN. “We were able to address a full range of future growth scenarios with Black Stone and are thrilled to welcome them as our newest customer.”
As Black Stone has grown, the risks, complexity and cost of maintaining an in-house data center necessitated the move to a dedicated, secure colocation solution. It learned of FIBERTOWN and its plans to enter the Houston market through existing FIBERTOWN customers located in the Bryan colocation data center.
“FIBERTOWN’s offerings were highly competitive with other top tier providers. Ultimately, it was FIBERTOWN’s willingness to listen to our needs and develop a solution that addressed those needs that convinced us they were the partner we could work with for years to come,” said Allan Skov, CIO at Black Stone Minerals.
FIBERTOWN has partnered with Digital Realty Trust, a global wholesale data center provider, for the facility. The new data center features a modular design for maximum efficiency, fault tolerant 2N power and cooling, 24×7 security, and 30,000 square feet of raised floor.
The location of the facility in North Houston provides unique access to multiple Tier I Internet carriers and protection from the harshest weather along the coast. FIBERTOWN offers a 100 percent uptime service level agreement.
“In all of our interactions with FIBERTOWN, our confidence in our decision to entrust our production computing environment with them has been confirmed. With our search for this key partner behind us, we can focus on completing our migration and enjoying the many advantages of operating out of FIBERTOWN’s facility,” said Alexander Rosca, Director of IT operations at Black Stone.
