(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – If you’re wondering what happened to FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII, well it’s been rebranded. Game developer Square Enix on Tuesday noted the title would now be known as “Final Fantasy XV.”
The game is set for consoles including the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. And while a release date is still not known, here’s how the company described the game’s plot via a press release: “The armed forces of Niflheim launch a devastating assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis, casting Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades out of their homes and into the fray. The engaging tale to follow draws audiences into an awe-inspiring world steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of SQUARE ENIX’s renowned First Production Development team.”
Meanwhile, the game is expected to lead to multiple direct sequels. Game Director Tetsuya Nomura recently discussed the possibilities. “While Final Fantasy XV will have one climax, as a story, we plan to continue it further,” stated Nomura in an interview with Siliconera, according to IGN.
“As for as how it will be released, we’ll announce that later on; however, having you wait a long while for a next title isn’t something we would desire,” Nomura continued.
In addition to Final Fantasy VX, Square Enix is also working to release Final Fantasy VIX: A Real Reborn – an MMO-style title in the series.
