(Ping! Zine Web Tech Magazine) – It’s been a long time in the making, but on Monday, Mozilla revealed that it’d soon begin rolling out its first Firefox OS smartphones.
Included in the mix are devices such as the Alcatel ONE TOUCH and ZTE Open.
According to a report from IDG News Service via TechnHive.com, the latter device, the ZTE Open, was expected to arrive in Spain on Tuesday requiring a prepaid subscription and $90 price tag.
Firefox OS is based on HTML5 and carriers expected to manufacture compatible devices include the likes of Alcatel, Deutsche Telekom, Telefonica and ZTE.
“The launch of Firefox OS marks an incredibly exciting time for the Web. Firefox OS powers the first smartphones built entirely on Web technologies and will stimulate an inspiring new wave of innovation for the Web,” commented Mozilla COO Jay Sullivan via a press release.
