(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Web hosting provider eUKhost recently experienced quite the dilemma when it reported a breach of its billing system to customers on Saturday. According to the company’s status page, eUKhost was unclear how that attack happened but was undergoing a server transfer of its payment system to stabilize the matter.
Despite not knowing the specific method, the web host said its allow list contained an unauthorized IP address. The server transfer was expected to be completed on Monday. Meanwhile, a report from theregister.co.uk stated that the attack originated from hacking group UrduHack, based in Pakastan.
“We have not noticed an increase in compromised accounts of clients and our initial research does seem to suggest the perpetrator wasn’t out to cause damage to our customers, but until we better understand the nature of this problem, we can not take anything for granted,” stated eUKhost regarding the matter.
In addition to simply performing a server transfer of its billing system, the web host enacted other measures to assist with the problem. Among those actions were customer password resets and changing the company’s encryption algorithm.
eUKhost offers a variety of hosting services in the areas of cloud, VPS, shared, reseller an dedicated servers. To view the company’s statement regarding the matter, go here (euk-status.com).
