For Web Hosts, It’s TV Time

(Ping! Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – Web hosting is soon to mark a more prominent spot on television and it’s all thanks to a recent development. On Tuesday, web hosting provider 1&1 Internet announced its intentions to run television advertisements focused mainly on small businesses.

Besides talking about 1&1, the ads discuss 1&1 MyWebsite, a customized website building application offered by the company.

The advertising strategy comes at a pretty large cost, which 1&1 says is a “$50 million investment.”  A total of six countries, including the United States, the UK, Germany, Poland, Austria, and Spain are expected the see the ads.

Commenting on the matter in a press release, 1&1 Internet CEO Oliver Mauss stated, “1&1 MyWebsite is a very visual application and the ad certainly captures how a professional, custom-made website is a valuable asset well within reach.”

Then there’s one of the hottest advertising outlets available: Super Bowl commercials.

Web host Go Daddy will air commercials during football’s largest event (which occurs in early February), according to a recent report by USA Today. The ads are expected to feature Go Daddy-sponsored race car driver Danica Patrick. However, for Go Daddy, it’s nothing new. The domain provider has consistently advertised during the Super Bowl for a number of years now.

Meanwhile, the Web Hosting Industry Review (The Whir) recently noted that (until 1&1’s announcement) Go Daddy has really been the “only other” large web host involved in the television market.
